Getting Ready for Starting our Great Loop Adventure
We are working on final preparations to leave on the loop adventure.
Lots of details to work on:
Selling second car, finding new home adoption for cats, closing down and selling fish in three large aquariums, packing for extended trip, etc, etc……
There also have been a few final projects getting Sanctuary ready, Installing AIS, new table in salon, solar panels, spares inventory, WiFI booster and LAN network etc……
We added a Wifi booster from Coastal Marine WiFi, this should help us to be able to connect so we can keep the BLOG updated while we are traveling.
We have an Automatic Identification System (AIS) which is an automatic tracking system used on ships and by vessel traffic services (VTS) for identifying and locating vessels by electronically exchanging data with other nearby ships, AIS base stations, and satellites. This will tell other ships where we are and let us know about near by ships. You can see AIS on ships at marine traffic or
We also have a SPOT satellite tracker and you can follow that on our BLOG.
The solar panels are on the back deck, and provide up to 200 watts of power. This will help keep the batteries charged up to run our refrigeration, freezer, lights, and other DC equipment. The solar panels are very thin and can be walked on. The control panel which regulates the battery charging is shown below.
