This is the Blog space of Steve and Teresa Lasher, from Comstock Park MI and their travels on the Defever 41 named Sanctuary.

We (Steve and Teresa) sold our sailboat, purchased a trawler located in New York, and renamed her Sanctuary.

The boat is a 1981 – 41’ Defever trawler.  Sanctuary has a single Ford Lehman 120 horsepower engine, which is comfortable and efficient at seven knots on 2.25 gallons per hour.  It’s a popular single-engine cruiser with two staterooms, each with a private head. The two staterooms are separated by the engine room for privacy. The master stateroom aft even has a bathtub large enough to bathe grandchildren.

“Traveling aboard Sanctuary is surreal for me. For years, I’ve dreamed of a cottage by the water or cruising in a vessel spacious enough to have real drawers and closets.  I still find it hard to comprehend this is really OUR boat. Until I wake up from this dream, I’ll feel blessed and thankful to God as we share our gift with family and friends.”
